Hon’ble Union Home Minister & Minister of Cooperation and senior BJP leader Shri Amit Shah addressed a press conference at the BJP headquarters, on Wednesday. During his address, Shri Shah exposed Congress's false propaganda regarding Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and launched a scathing attack on the party. During the conference, BJP National President and Union Health Minister Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, Union Commerce Minister Shri Piyush Goyal, Union Information and Broadcasting and Railways Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri Kiren Rijiju and BJP MP and National Media Head Shri Anil Baluni were present.
Shri Shah stated that last week, both Houses of Parliament, the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, held a special discussion to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Constitution. This discussion highlighted the nation’s 75-year journey of pride, development, and achievements. While it is natural for leaders and speakers from the ruling and opposition parties to have differing perspectives during such discussions in Parliament, the country’s highest forum should always be based on facts and truth. However, since yesterday, the Congress party has been distorting facts and attempting to misrepresent the truth, which is highly deplorable. Shri Shah strongly condemned this act.
Hon’ble Union Home Minister & Minister of Cooperation stated that during the parliamentary discussion on the Constitution, BJP speakers presented detailed facts about the Constitution and the principles behind its creation. They provided a comparative analysis of how the Constitution was preserved and promoted under BJP and Congress governments. Using numerous examples, BJP speakers clearly demonstrated in Parliament and to the public that the Congress party has consistently opposed Babasaheb Dr. Ambedkar, reservations and the Constitution itself. Congress disrespected Veer Savarkar, undermined constitutional principles by imposing Emergency, ignored women’s dignity for years, frequently disrespected the judiciary, and dishonored the sacrifices of soldiers. It was under Congress rule, that Indian territory was unconstitutionally ceded to foreign countries. When these misdeeds of Congress were exposed in Parliament, the party, true to its old habits, distorted statements, misrepresented facts, and made a malicious attempt to mislead the society.
Shri Shah stated that the parliamentary discussion revealed how the Congress party had consistently opposed Babasaheb Dr. Ambedkar. Even after his demise, Congress tried to marginalize his contributions. The party left no effort spared to defeat Babasaheb Dr. Ambedkar in the 1952 Lok Sabha elections and the 1954 elections, going as far as ensuring that the elections were not conducted fairly and making deliberate efforts to secure his defeat. Congress leaders who had repeatedly awarded the Bharat Ratna to themselves, as in 1955, Pt. Nehru awarded himself the Bharat Ratna, and in 1971, Indira Gandhi did the same. However, Babasaheb Dr. Ambedkar received the Bharat Ratna only in 1990, under a government supported by the Bharatiya Janata Party, after Congress was no longer in power. Congress deliberately withheld this honor from Babasaheb Dr. Ambedkar for decades and even refused to celebrate his 100th birth anniversary.
Hon’ble Union Home Minister & Minister of Cooperation stated that Pt. Nehru's animosity for Babasaheb Dr. Ambedkar was widely known. When the first all-party government was formed under Pt. Nehru's leadership, Babasaheb DR. Ambedkar was part of the cabinet. Citing Nehru's own book, Selected Works of Nehru, Second Series, Volume 16, Part 2, page 532, Shri Shah referred to a letter from B.C. Rao to Nehru, informing him that Babasaheb Dr. Ambedkar was contemplating resigning from the cabinet. Pt. Nehru’s response was that Ambedkar’s departure would not affect the cabinet in any way. This incident serves as an example of how Pt. Nehru undervalued the monumental contributions of Babasaheb Dr. Ambedkar. Despite Nehru's assurances, Babasaheb Ambedkar was not assigned any important portfolio. Babasaheb Dr. Ambedkar strongly opposed the policies of Nehru's government, particularly those related to defense, foreign affairs, policies concerning Scheduled Castes and Tribes, and Article 370.
Shri Shah stated that in Nehru’s own book, ‘Letter to Chief Ministers,’ it is mentioned that the Mayor of Bombay had suggested, through a letter, the idea of constructing a memorial at Babasaheb Dr. Ambedkar's birthplace, Mhow. However, on June 18, 1959, Pt. Nehru remarked that establishing a memorial would not be a simple matter for the government, as memorials are typically created through private initiatives. The head of a family that established countless memorials across the country in their own name claimed that memorials are usually created through private efforts because the memorial was for Babasaheb Dr. Ambedkar. As long as Congress remained in power, no memorial for Babasaheb was ever built. Wherever non-Congress governments came to power, memorials began to be established. Under the governments of the Bharatiya Janata Party, and especially during the tenure of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, significant development was undertaken to commemorate Babasaheb’s life through the creation of the Panchteerths. In Madhya Pradesh, Mhow—Babasaheb's birthplace—was developed, along with his educational site in London, the Mahaparinirvana Sthal in Delhi, and Chaitya Bhoomi in Mumbai. Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji honored Babasaheb Ambedkar by declaring November 26 as Constitution Day. Additionally, he established the Ambedkar International Centre. In 2018, Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji inaugurated the Ambedkar Memorial at the Mahaparinirvana Sthal, which spans approximately 2 acres.

Twisting statements, creating uproar, and spreading confusion in society have always been Congress's old habits. Previously, Congress also edited and misrepresented the statements of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. During the recent Lok Sabha elections, my statement was edited by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and maliciously misused for propaganda across the country—a vile act carried out by the Congress Party. Yesterday in the Rajya Sabha, my statement was also distorted by the Congress Party. I humbly request all media friends to present my complete statement to the public, as I belong to a party that cannot even dream of insulting Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Ji. From the days of Jan Sangh to the Bharatiya Janata Party, we have always strived to follow Babasaheb's principles. Whenever the Bharatiya Janata Party has been in power, we have wholeheartedly worked to propagate Babasaheb's ideals.
Shri Shah stated that it is well known across the country that Congress has always opposed reservation. In 1953, the Kaka Kalelkar Commission was formed to safeguard the constitutional rights of backward classes, and its report was submitted in 1955, but Congress took no action on it. On December 31, 1980, the Mandal Commission report was released, but Indira Gandhi shelved it. It was only in 1990, under a non-Congress government, that the Mandal Commission report was implemented. During the implementation of the Mandal Commission report, the then Leader of Opposition, Rajiv Gandhi, delivered the longest speech of his life opposing OBC reservation. We have strengthened reservation in line with the fundamental spirit of the Constitution, protecting the rights of SCs, STs, and OBCs, and ensuring their right to live with dignity.

Today, hundreds of Bharatiya Janata Party karyakartas have also used social media to convey this truth and expose Congress's lies to the people.
Continuing his strong attack on Congress, Union Home Minister & Minister of Cooperation stated that those who insulted Babasaheb their entire lives, disregarded his principles, ensured he did not receive the Bharat Ratna while they were in power, and trampled upon the principles of reservation, they are now trying to spread confusion in Babasaheb's name. I also want to say to the AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge Ji, that at least he should not support this vile attempt by Congress because he belongs to the very community for whom Babasaheb dedicated his entire life. I am saddened that he too, under Rahul Gandhi's pressure, has become part of this disgraceful effort by Congress.
Hon’ble Shri Shah remarked that during the discussion on the Constitution, Congress had no answers to the fact that Congress is against Babasaheb Ambedkar. Congress has no defence against being anti-Constitution. Congress is anti-reservation, and it has no response to that either. Congress is against Savarkar, and it cannot justify that. Congress is anti-OBC, and it has no answers for this as well. The sin of imposing the Emergency happened during Congress's regime, and it remains unanswered by them to this day. Congress also opposed the dignity of women, a fact that has now been firmly established. Congress insulted the judiciary, and this too has been proven. The sin of sidelining the Constitution and handing over India’s land to foreign entities was also committed by Congress, and this fact has been established as well. Once again, Congress has reverted to its familiar policy. Congress twisted my statement, presenting a small, distorted portion of it to the public in an attempt to create confusion. I urge all journalists to convey my complete statement to the people so that the truth becomes clear. I come from a party and a tradition that cannot even dream of disrespecting Babasaheb's ideas or Babasaheb himself.
Union Home Minister & Minister of Cooperation stated that we are well aware of Babasaheb's significant contribution in making India's Constitution inclusive, ensuring justice for the backward classes, Dalit, tribal, poor & underprivileged and in strengthening the foundation of the country’s democracy. The entire nation expresses its gratitude towards Babasaheb Dr. Ambedkar. At the very least, we cannot do anything that would disrespect Babasaheb. The people of the country fully understand the Congress' mindset, their tactics of spreading lies, and their conspiracies to create confusion in society.
